What hypnosis is — and is not

WHAT IT IS
A structured experience of focused attention

It is not handing control to someone else

Hypnosis shifts attention from constant analysis toward present experience, associations, bodily responses and inner resources. You know what is happening and can disagree at any time.

  • Your aim and boundaries guide the process
  • You will not be asked to disclose what you do not wish to share
  • There is no promise to erase memories or change a life instantly
  • You decide how to interpret and act on the experience afterward

When it may be a fit

WHEN IT MAY HELP
01

A recurring pattern

An emotion, bodily feeling or behaviour keeps returning and willpower alone has not shifted it.

02

You know, but cannot do

Your mind knows the next step while your state remains tense, avoidant, delayed or without energy.

03

You need a usable resource

You want to reconnect with steadiness, courage, creativity, boundaries or a strength you once had.

It is not a universal fix

The value of one session may be a shift, a new understanding or an inner resource you can return to. Experiences vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ
Will I lose control?
No. You remain aware and in choice, and can speak, pause or decline any suggestion at any time.
Could I be made to reveal a secret?
No. You decide what to share, and may describe an experience without disclosing its specific content.
Can an online session work?
Sessions normally use Microsoft Teams. Join from a quiet, private place and never while driving or doing anything that requires external alertness.
When is this not appropriate?
It does not replace diagnosis, therapy or crisis care. Acute distress, risk of harm and defined clinical issues should be taken to emergency or licensed professional support first.
How are reflection forms used?
Client and practitioner complete separate forms. Feedback and certification materials being prepared are currently reviewed only by Junsheng Hao for reflection and personal learning, not shared with tutors or certification bodies or published. Any future sharing would be explained separately and require the client's explicit consent.
